What is the New Virgin Forest?
Near Ještěd in northern Bohemia, the Čmelák association has been buying up artificial spruce monocultures since 2004 and transforming them into a natural and colorful forest, which will one day become a new primeval forest. Become a patron of a piece of the New Forest and get a gift certificate as well as the good feeling of really helping nature.

We want to expand the New Virgin Forest yet again!
In addition to the 38.5 hectares we have already bought for the return of nature, we now want
to add another plot of land.
There are almost 150-year-old trees there, which in 100-200 years will become true forest giants that you won’t find in regular forests today.

What is
our goal?
Save the old forest from logging and plant a diverse mix of native trees in the surrounding clearings, thus returning the place to nature.
Why are
we doing this?
We believe that old trees have invaluable role and we want to enable at least some of them to grow into true forest giants.

What stage
are we at?
We have a signed agreement to purchase the land. We need to raise 1 million CZK by the end of 2026. Logging on the land is currently not underway.

Current status as of 3 March 2026. 438 604 CZK remains to be raised by the end of 2026.
Fundraising goal: to purchase 4.6 hectares in the Pod Liščí skálou area near Šimonovice on the Ještěd Ridge.
